It’s time for back to school shopping and I was instructed by my 6-year-old twins not to buy anything that was by a designer, had a cute frog or lizard on it, or anything that looked “cool.”

They were doing the shopping themselves because they were on a mission. I can’t begin to tell you when the obsession with Japanese-styled cartoon characters,Discount Calvin Klein, Star Wars or Batman/Superman became the most coveted images in their little minds, but everything we needed to get — including this $14.99 backpack — centered around these odd, small little characters and these super powered action heroes.
